| 1.XII Winter Diffiety School | | Dates | 30 Jan 2012 → 11 Feb 2012 | [ID=445851] | | Location | Conference center 'Pomorski Park Naukowo-Technolog, Poland | | Abstract | The aim of the school is to introduce undergraduate and graduate students in Mathematics and Physics, as well as post-doctoral researchers and other mathematicians into a recently emerged area of mathematics and theoretical physics, called 'Secondary Calculus'. Secondary calculus is the result of a natural evolution of the classical geometrical theory of partial differential equations (PDE) originated by Sophus Lie. In particular, it allows the construction of a general theory of PDE, in the same manner as algebraic geometry does with respect to algebraic equations. There are strong indications that secondary calculus may become a natural language for quantum field theory, just in the same way as standard calculus is for classical physics. | | Weblink | http://www.levi-civita.org/Activities/DiffietySchools/XIIWDS | | Related subject(s) | Courses and Events for Math Students; Calculus, Differential Equations and Integration |
| 2.10IKSS2012 — Xth International Krutyn Summer School 2012, "Frontiers in Science & Technology of Carbon Nano-Materials" | | Dates | 19 Jun 2012 → 25 Jun 2012 | [ID=461992] | | Location | Krutyn, Poland | | Abstract | This Summer School aims at the state-of-the-art training in the form of lectures and consulting sessions designed for Ph.D. students and young researchers seeking to reinforce their knowledge and skills in the field of carbon nanomaterials. Top experts in this area will deliver lectures and consulting sessions. The school is intended both for people already active in this R&D field, as well as for those new to the field. A number of social events will be also planned to relax after the full and intensive program, including: bonfire, boats on Krutynia River, guided or individual out-door activities (kayaking, trekking, horse-riding, bike, etc.). | | Topics | graphene, fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, nanodiamonds, chemical reactivity, properties, spectroscopy, microscopy, magnetism, nanostructures, defects, nanocontainers | | Weblink | http://10ikss.carbonnanomat.pl/ | | Contact | Prof. Marek Pietraszkiewicz Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences, 01224 Warsaw, Poland; Phone: [+48-22-3433416]; Email: mpietraszkiewicz@ichf.edu.pl | | Related subject(s) | Condensed Matter Physics: Clusters and Nanomaterials; Nanoscale Particles, Colloids and Emulsions |
