XRU2020 — The X-ray Universe 2020
25 mai 2020 - 29 mai 2020 • ESTEC/ESA, Noordwijk, Pays-Bas
Organisateur:
XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre
Résumé:
The XMM-Newton Science Operations Centre is organising the 54 ESLAB conference, a major astrophysical symposium to take place 25 - 29 May 2020 at the European Space Agency's European Space Research and Technology Centre, ESA/ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The symposium is the sixth meeting in the series "The X-ray Universe". The aim of the symposium is to have discussions on a broad range of topics in X-ray astrophysics. The meeting will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the launch of XMM-Newton. There will be a large range of presentations highlighting the outstanding results produced over the past two decades using XMM-Newton. In addition, the excellent results obtained with other currently active X-ray missions will also be presented as well as the scientific potential of future missions such as, for example, Athena.

EAS 2020 — European Astronomical Society Annual Meeting
30 jui 2020 - 01 jul 2020 • Leiden, Pays-Bas
Organisateur:
European Astronomical Society (EAS)
Résumé:
n this symposium, we will bring together observers and modellers with an interest in galaxy evolution in intermediate-redshift clusters. The communities will update each other on recent progress, identify the shortcomings in current models, and discuss which future observations and simulations will be most beneficial to making progress in this field.

Common-envelope systems: progenitors, mergers and survivors (a symposium during EWASS 2020).
02 jul 2020 - 03 jul 2020 • Leiden, Pays-Bas
Résumé:
The goal of the proposed symposium is to discuss the latest advances in the study of CE evolution in the context of stellar mergers and related phenomena. The meeting will combine observations and theory to probe where we stand in solving the problem of the CE and define avenues of future research in the field.
Sujets:
stellar mergers and CE transients , post-CE objects (central stars of planetary nebulae, cataclysmic variables, etc.) and merger remnants: blue and red strugglers, anomalous Cepheids, Be & B[e] stars, η Car, FK Com stars, etc. hydrodynamical modeling of the common envelope , common envelope evolution in population synthesis , radiation transport and shocks in the common envelope phase

The 3rd information Universe Conference
30 sep 2020 - 02 oct 2020 • Groningen, Pays-Bas
Résumé:
The key topic of the IU conference series is: “What is the role of information in the Universe and its description?”. In an epoch where scientists need to handle Big Data and simulations, find highly organized systems in nature and grapple with the role of information in physics and other sciences, this appears to be one of the more fundamental questions that needs to be answered in order to understand the world around us. The Information Universe conference intends to unite various approaches, addressing the fundamental role of information both in nature (in vivo) and in data analysis, theory and computer modelling (in vitro). The conference will approach the key role of information from the point of view of several disciplines: e.g. cosmology, physics, mathematics, life sciences, computer science (including quantum computing) and neuroscience.
