	abstract: With the purpose of increasing the development of metrology and instrumentation, mostly in Brazil and Latin America, gathering people and entities to produce knowledge and scientific culture, fomenting the exchange of specialists and researchers from Brazil and the exterior, the National Institute of Metrology, Normalization and Industrial Quality (Inmetro) and the Brazilian Society of Metrology (SBM) have the grateful satisfaction to announce the Metrology 2011, that will be held in the beautiful city of Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, in September of 2011. We hope this conference will be of help to the society by supporting safety and confidence through innovations in measurement technology. Metrology 2011 is more than an International congress. Rather it is a global event that comprises five modules: (i) a measuring instruments exhibition (ii) the 18th IMEKO Symposium in Measurement of Electrical Quantities; (iii) IX Semetro - 9th International Congress on Electrical Metrology; (iv) II CIMMEC - 2nd International Congress on Mechanical Metrology; (v) VI Brazilian Congress of Metrology.
